Thanks to Qt port for Haiku it has become possible to port many KDE applications including KOffice! It has been ported: kchmviewer, kdeaccessibility, kdeadmin, kdebase, kdeedu, kdegames, kdegraphics, kdelibs, kdelibs-experimental, kdemultimedia, kdenetwork, kdepim, kdepimlibs, kdepim-runtime, kdesdk, kdetoys, kdeutils, kdevplatform, kdewebdev, kdiff3, koffice and many others packages. In all there are about 150 application ready to run. Some applications do not run fully stable, but most of them can be used in everyday work.

X11, GTK+, GIMP, Abiword and Gnumeric on TiltOS

I wanted to have a GIMP on haiku, so I decided to do something with that. There were two paths to achieve this goal. The first one was to port a GTK+ and then replace X11 calls from a GIMP with the Haiku's ones (complex task). The second one was to port X11 to the Haiku (easy task). I chose the second path for now.

DOSBox and other packages

This time I have ported the latest version of DOSBox , a DOS emulator. There are small issues with key mappings, but it is possible to play my favorite DOS game - Mario. This update also includes: a2ps, mktemp, procps (watch), sablotron and tidy.

This release features a full GNU Compiler Collection packages including c, c++, java (unstable), fortran and objective-c compilers. The most important packages are: cdrtools, gnash (unstable), netsurf, openldap, rsync. Also many packages have been fixed.

Alpha1 rescheduled

TiltOS Alpha1 release has been rescheduled. The release should be available by the end of March. The system will be build with gcc4, but also for a compatibility with BeOS there will be libraries build with gcc2 too (it is called a hybrid build).
Also since Alpha1 release, "TiltOS for Haiku" - a packages repository for haiku will be available for gcc4 builds or hybrid builds (base gcc4 + gcc2) only.
